The houses decide the work. The Finish Lasts Or Fails On The Prep, So The Prep Is Never Shortened
Paint peels off cabinets for a handful of reasons: grease left behind, no sanding, a primer that did not suit the material, or a heavy coat that never cured. So each door and drawer front comes down and gets tagged. Kitchen wax gets cut with a strong cleaner, surfaces get sanded dull, and the primer follows the material: shellac for oak and cherry, bonding primer for melamine and thermofoil, cabinet primer for maple and MDF.
Topcoat is waterborne alkyd enamel or 2K polyurethane, sprayed thin in two or three passes with a scuff sand between. Doors travel to the booth while boxes get sprayed in place inside sealed plastic. What We Will Say Even When It Costs Us The Cabinet Painting Job
We say when thermofoil has peeled too far for paint and the door needs replacing. We say when cherry or walnut would look better refinished, and send people to the cabinet refinishing page. We say when boxes have swollen from a leak and no paint will save them. We say when a chip that looks perfect will read yellow beside the counter, and spray a sample door to show it. How We Work
Prep is never shortened
Every door comes down and gets tagged. Grease is cut, surfaces are sanded dull and the primer follows the material. Finishes peel for a handful of reasons, and each one is a skipped step.
A quote that names every part
The written quote counts doors, drawers, boxes and end panels, records the material, primer, topcoat, sheen and coats, and prices each part. Islands, pantries and vanities get separate lines that can be added or dropped.
Straight advice, even when it costs a job
We say when thermofoil has peeled too far, when cherry would look better refinished, and when swollen boxes cannot be saved. A cabinet painting company owes its customers advice, not just a spray gun.
The job ends when the cure does
Doors go back once the finish can take handling. Written care notes cover the first month: soft cloths, nothing abrasive and nothing hung on the doors, with extra care at the cutlery drawer and handles.
